When holiday is approching, we pressure ourselves to decorate, cook and entertain friends and family. How about setting aside time to enjoy the holidays yourself? Squeezing more time to enjoy holiday may need tips on how to focus on saving money.
Tips for Decorating:
Breaking the holiday lists into bite size chunks to make decorating easier.
Make your own decorating recipe like you are baking an apple pie. There are similarities between baking and decorating if you want the best outcome so it’s time to build your personal decorating recipe.
List down the rooms you want to decorate. Start in your entryway and stairs go, just if you want to decorate them. Your mailbox, porch and other areas outside your home may be included in your list.
Your available weekends could be the time to decorate your list of rooms.
Review your list and decide which ones are your priorities. Check all the activities that you may enjoy when you decorate rooms. Try separating the ones you can give up and those it would be better to delegate. Try to delegate the putting of holiday lights on your roof or trees, work that needs to be done from a ladder (see photo). That’s when it’s smart to call your local handyman for help.
Take decorations out ahead of time. You need to review your decorations a few days ahead of when you plan to use them. Find alternative ways when you want decors that you do not have like using things you own or get the kids involved making personal decorations. Those are the memories you want to make and remember.
Try to take photos of your decorations before you put them away. This way, you can go back to them on the next holiday so it’ll help speed up next years’ decorating and provide a photo history of holidays past.
Try to label each boxes of decorations. Review your decorating plan when you put things away and store holiday decorations. By labeling each box, you can take out 1 or 2 boxes for each decorating project.
Find Gadgets to Save You Time
You need to put a decorating toolbox so you may save time when you decorate. For example, hooks; you often need hooks to hold the decors in the right place. When you have a toolbox, it will save your time by taking out your hammer, a selection of nails and hooks from one place / container.
